Conservation work
1920 FLapper Purse.
The beaded flapper purse from 1928, was in an unstable and fragile state before conservation treatment. Ethical consideration gave challenges to how the object would be consolidated for wet cleaning as well as re-constructed back to its original state. Testing the objects materials was crucial in the treatment plan as well as the methods and processes that had to be applied.
The purse is over 100 yrs. old and considering the age the actual beads and fabric was in a good condition, it just needed a professional conservator to get the purse back to its original state fit for purpose so it could be displayed or used as the clients wishes.
